Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

  1. Purpose

The objective of this policy is to define the standards governing the responsible and transparent use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in the preparation, submission, review, and publication of scholarly works in IJASIS. This policy ensures adherence to the ethical and publication integrity guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)Elsevier, and other leading international publishing bodies.

  1. Acceptable Use of Generative AI Tools

Authors may utilize Generative AI or AI-assisted technologies (such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Claude, etc.) for limited and clearly disclosed purposes, including:

  • Enhancing the language quality, grammar, or readability of manuscripts.
  • Assisting with the structuring or organization of the manuscript.
  • Supporting data visualization, figure design, or formatting tasks, provided that all data and results are genuine and independently verified by the authors.

The use of AI tools should remain technical or editorial in nature. The authors bear full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of all content submitted to IJASIS.

  1. Prohibited Uses

Generative AI tools must not be employed for:

  • Producing scientific content, including ideas, analyses, results, or conclusions;
  • Creating, modifying, or fabricating data, figures, images, or references;
  • Performing peer review, editorial assessments, or decision-making processes;
  • Being listed as authors or co-authors, as AI tools cannot assume responsibility, accountability, or copyright.

Any undisclosed or inappropriate use of AI tools constitutes a violation of publication ethics and may lead to the rejection, withdrawal, or retraction of the article.

  1. Disclosure Requirement

Authors must provide transparent disclosure of any AI or AI-assisted tools used in manuscript preparation. Such disclosure should be included either in the Acknowledgment section or in a dedicated “Declaration of Generative AI Use” section.

Failure to disclose AI usage may result in editorial action in accordance with IJASIS publication ethics.

  1. Reviewer and Editor Use of AI

Reviewers and editors associated with IJASIS must not employ Generative AI tools to interpret, evaluate, or comment on submitted manuscripts, as doing so may compromise confidentiality and objectivity.
Editorial staff may only use AI tools for administrative or linguistic purposes, such as communication or grammar review, not for editorial decision-making.

  1. Accountability and Verification

All manuscripts submitted to IJASIS are subject to verification using AI-content detection systems and plagiarism screening software. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all data, text, and figures are original and that any AI-assisted inputs have been appropriately disclosed.

  1. Policy Review and Updates

This policy will be periodically reviewed and revised to reflect emerging standards in ethical scholarly publishing, advancements in AI technologies, and evolving requirements of major indexing and abstracting services such as SCOPUS, DOAJ, and Web of Science.
